Karma and the Secret
Karma and the Secret are directly related concepts, interlinked in a obvious yet subtle way. The ancient Indian religion of Hinduism teaches us that karma is the result of cause and effect or as we in the west know it 'You reap what you sow'. So for example your cause is harm the effect is harm on your chosen subject, meaning the result or karma will be harm on you, maybe not right away but certainly at some point. This idea of a universal loop or universal justice can be traced to many different cultures from many different places.
In ancient Egypt the idea of karma is called maat, which roughly translates as manners. The idea was of good manners being working as a mirror back to yourself. In biblical terms it translate as 'Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap' from Galatians VI. It even permeates modern culture, for instance the television series 'My name is Earl' has its central theme based around the idea of redemption from bad karma, which if the rumours are true has it original basis in Scientology. The Matrix films also uses this idea with the speech made by the Merovigian about cause and effect, action and reaction.
So how does all this relate to the Secret? It's contained within the Secret in a very subtle way. The central concept in the Secret is that if you will good things, good things will come your way, eventually. This idea of a time lag is similar in theory to karma, in that bad karma as a result of a negative action doesn't necessarily come directly back to you. Another way in which it is contain in the Secret is in the idea of being kind to someone else elevates your position in the queue to your dreams and wishes, so again time is a factor in the Secrets interpretation of karma.
How does this all fit together, well in reality it’s very hard to keep up with the idea of helping everyone or being very kind all the time. This is especially true in the west, we all saw the film pay it forward and how difficult it was for people to accept help let alone give it. But there is way to achieve this higher echelon of thinking and that is by knowing all that you can know. The melding of the idea of karma into different cultures and religions is a great example of the mysterious things we don't quite understand, how was it that an idea found its way into so many different cultures that never even knew each other existed. So imagine if the answers to all these questions were answered in one book or document. With all of that knowledge we could break the chains of bondage that trap us daily and ascend to a deeper understanding of ourselves and others.
Enoch Tan has done just that. He has combined all of his knowledge from different cultures and religions into one book and subsequently discovered a higher, clearer understanding of us, our place in the world and our place in the universe. You can find out more here:
